OLYMPIC fever is gripping the nation – and for Derek Redmond it marks the 20th anniversary of that event which changed his life forever.
It was 20 years ago when he lined up for that now famous race in the Barcelona Olympic Games in the summer of 1992.
DEREK Redmond came face to face with his old sporting world today as the Olympic torch arrived at Brands Hatch.
The two-times Olympian joined reigning MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship champion Tommy Hill to welcome the torch as it was paraded around the famous circuit.
SCHOOLS in Northampton will take part in an Olympic torch relay started by former 400m runner Derek Redmond.
DEREK Redmond was among guests at the Diamond Butterfly Ball who helped raise more than £1.5million for the Caudwell Children charity.
He joined fellow guests Princess Beatrice, Rod Stewart and Sir Bruce Forsyth at the glittering event at Battersea Evolution, London, recently.
